Supervisor

Nora Vargas

turned her back on working families. Tell her to do the right thing.

Nora Vargas was elected to serve San Diego County’s working families on the Board of Supervisors. Nora Vargas stabbed us in the back.

The Board of Supervisors is choosing our new County Manager – a critical role to working families’ future in San Diego County. Last year, the Board offered that role to Cindy Chavez – an outstanding candidate, qualified Latina, and champion for working families.

The board rescinded the offer and started the process again. Then, out of the public eye, Vargas joined the Republicans on the Board that have advocated for a status quo candidate to reverse that decision and shut the door on Chavez without transparency or public input. This stunt is an insult to working families, and a disaster for San Diego County.

Members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors:

I am demanding that you:

  • Establish a public, transparent hiring process that allows the community to engage with and understand the qualifications of all finalists.
  • Include Cindy Chavez among the finalists for the Chief Administrative Officer position and ensure she is given a fair opportunity to be evaluated for this critical role.
